Personal & Professional Background
Hello, my name is Gerard Raap I wanted to quickly introduce myself.
I'm an aloha shirt wearing, girl-dad and teacher living in Montgomery Texas. This year I will be teaching, Graphic Design & Illustration, and Digital Art & Animation at Oak Ridge High School. I have been teaching at Oak Ridge since the fall of 2011.
I am a second generation CISD educator, CISD and Sam Houston State University alumni. When I am not teaching, I have a passion for photography, wood working, outdoor activities, and spending time with my daughters.
I earned my BBA in Accounting and completed my Post-Baccalaureate teacher education program at Sam Houston State University. Before becoming an educator, I have worked in the Business Process Outsourcing, Motor Fuel Distribution, Export Packing and Custom DNA/RNA Oligo synthesis industries.
I currently hold the following Texas Educator Certificates: Technology Applications Grades (8-12), Business Education Grades (6-12) and Technology Education Grades (6-12). Additionally, I am an Adobe Certified Professional for the following software: Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, InDesign, and Premier Pro.
For me the greatest reward as a teacher is watching my student’s growth. Not only their maturity but seeing their creative confidence and problem-solving skills blossom.
